Melinda Criss Michael, 52, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at her home in Galveston. She was born January 28, 1959 in Galveston to Donald L. and JoAnn Oldham Michael. Melinda had a great green thumb and enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, refinishing furniture, and, most of all, attending her son, Christopher’s, soccer games. She was a certified child care provider, certified nursing assistant, pet care giver, and owner of her own house-cleaning service.
Melinda is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Christopher Michael; brothers, Donald Louis Michael, Jr., and wife, Peggy, and David Claude Michael and wife, Tammie; sister, Brenda Jean Drickey; aunt and uncle, Linda and Anthony Garber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 am Friday, December 2, 2011 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Drew Weber of Moody Methodist Church officiating. Graveside service will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers are Woody Bekkema, Lee Rhame, Sr., Lee Rhame, Jr., Kevin Garber, Bubba Donovon, and David Flores. Honorary pallbearers are Pat Doherty, Jr. John Doherty, Gary Michael, Anthony Garber, Brett Hopkins, A. J. Pacini, Rollie Olguin, and Douglas Bekkema.
Melinda’s family would like to thank special friends, Larry Burroughs and Larry Jenson, and Moody Memorial Methodist Church, for helping Melinda in her time of need with transportation, meals, and doctors’ appointments and to Mrs. Martha Tichy who assisted her in her final days. A very special thanks to her aunt, Linda Garber, and sister-in-law, Tammie Michael.
