Norman W. Edmonson passed away March 6, 2015 at the age of 85. He was born in Galveston on July 5, 1929 and graduated from Ball High School in 1946. He married Marie Evans on May 4, 1951 at Grace Episcopal Church in Galveston and subsequently served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. He spent his career as a mechanic, first on cars and later on diesel equipment, ultimately retiring from Union Carbide in Texas City as shop foreman. A lifelong tinkerer, he could fix anything mechanical and build anything out of wood. He loved boats and the water, whether cruising on his various power boats or sitting and enjoying his favorite view of Galveston Bay from his home in Seabrook.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman L. Edmonson and Vivian B. Edmonson, his wife Marie Edmonson, and his son Kevin Blake Edmonson. He is survived by his daughter Susan Edmonson, son-in-law Robert Hesley, daughter Nancy Edmonson, son-in-law Charles Griffey, son Norman W. Edmonson, Jr., and grandchildren Catherine Edmonson, Ross Griffey, and Vivian Griffey.
Norman’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, March 9th, in Eaton Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2216 Ball, in Galveston.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 10th, at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Susan Kennard officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers are Robert Hesley, Charles Griffey, Ross Griffey, Val Ramirez, Brad Robbins, and David Gerany.
