Ola Emily Schmiegel Scales, 87, passed away August 24, 2012 at Bayou Pines Care Center. She was born January 16, 1925 in Alta Loma, Texas to Richard and Emily Schmiegel.

Ola was a loving mother and wonderful housewife. She worked at Eiband’s in Galveston for many years, at the Salvation Army, and was bookkeeper for T. T. Scales Cement Contractor. She was an avid Astros baseball fan. She loved to knit, crochet and listen to Christian music. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Bible Baptist Church.

Ola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tullie Thomas Scales; and grandson, TJ Scales.

She is survived by her three sons, Thomas H. Scales and wife Debra; Richard Glenn Scales; Ronald Wayne Scales and wife Cheryl; sister, Sally Harrison; grandchildren: Helen Renee Wyche (Mark), Laura Ann Thompson (Jerry), Pamela Sue Robinson, Suezanne Renee Johnson (Brent), Debra Ann Connell (Dannie), Megan Elizabeth Marie Spencer (Jamie), Angela Manous (Jason), Kimberly Scales; Tyler Thomas Scales, Brittany Joe Scales, Danielle Stendel, Marissa Stendel; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and her friends at Bible Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Brent Johnson, Dannie Connell, Jamie Spencer, DeShawn Robinson, DeAnte Robinson, Colby Johnson and Kevin Connell.

Ola’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, August 31st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 1, at Temple Baptist Church, 1200 22nd St. N, Texas City with Pastor Rudy Rios officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial in Hitchcock.
