Obituary

Olivia Balducci Orem passed away on August 26, 2013, after a valiant fight with Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 24, 1926, in Galveston, Texas, where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Ursuline Academy. Olivia enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. In 1962 she and her children moved to Houston, Texas, where she worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement from Rudi’s Restaurant.

Olivia is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Louise Orem; father, Albert Balducci; mother, Madelina Martini Maskell; brothers, Albert Paul Balducci and Amile Martini; and son-in-law, James (Jim) Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Orem Smith, of Katy, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Buller and son-in-law, Richard Buller, of La Marque, Texas; and son, Louis S. Orem III, of Stafford, Texas; granddaughter, Cynthia Malin; grandson, Eric Malin and wife, Amy Malin; grandson, Adam Malin and wife, Jennie Malin; granddaughter, Dian LaQue and husband, Quintin LaQue; grandsons, Scott Buller, Anthony Orem and Daniel Orem; great-grandchildren: Christine and Addison Malin, Cameron and Madeline LaQue and Skylar Orem; sister, Noami Ippolito; half-sisters, Gayle Vanskike and Joyce Kleimann; sister-in-law, Marie Balducci; nieces, Carla Gregson and Martha Euwer; nephew, Ricky Balducci; cousins, Catherine Halvorson of Grand Junction, Colorado; Paula Martini of Houston, Texas and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Olivia’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Friday, August 30th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 31st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.

Pallbearers are Eric Malin, Adam Malin, Scott Buller, Anthony Orem, Daniel Orem and Cameron LaQue. Honorary pallbearers are Quintin LaQue, Frank Macaluso, Rick Mansfield and Eddie Janek.
