Pat Doherty Mickley, 68, passed away Saturday, December, 21, 2013, in Sugar Land, TX. He was born October 29, 1945, in Houston and graduated from Kinkaid High School in 1964 where he participated in most of the Houston social clubs. Pat graduated from Centenary University in 1969 and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Pat was a walking sports encyclopedia and was often called upon for specific facts of a sporting event. He loved playing golf with his favorite golf partner, Judy, as members of the Friends & Fairways Golf Group. He was an avid Rice Owls baseball fan who very rarely missed a game. Pat’s unique personality developed hundreds of long and lasting friendships with those he associated with, from high school and college buddies to those he worked with and those who participated with him in golf tournaments. He was truly a legend in his own time.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Maggie Mickley; and his brother-in-law, Jim Sheets.

He is survived by the love of his life, golf partner, and best friend, Judy Meador and her family; son, Patrick Mickley, of San Diego, CA; sister, Terry Hall and husband, Guy, of Midland; brother, Steve Mickley and wife, Kay, of Missouri City; sister, Betsy Sheets, of Midland; nephews and nieces: Alan Hall, Natalie and Joe Perez, Lewis Mickley, David Mickley, Shawn Sheets, Kelly Sheets, Cassie and Matt Milks, and Karen Cummings.

Pat’s family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 27th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pat’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Classic Café of Seabrook; the members of the Friends and Fairways Golf Group; and the employees of Ameriforge, Inc. for keeping Pat’s life fulfilled. Heartfelt thanks is also extended to the ER Staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sugar Land.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Jones, Ben Lofton, Joe Wayne Kreger, Jay Buffington, and Tony Smythe.

Many great memories of Pat from high school and college years. I'm so glad he came to last Kinkaid reunion for Class of 1964. He will be dearly missed, I know, by family and friends.

It was probably around 1975-1976 when I met Pat when he was a buyer at American Metal Fab. As one of those that attended two of the golf tournaments in Brownsville that he and Steve had, the award for "survival of the fittest" given at the time (by Billy Gibbons If memory serves correctly) could be reevaluated to those of us still breathing about 40 years later. Pat continuing the annual super bowl pots that Howard Cass started which everyone in the industry participated in (those are my Cameo Fab. dominos) will not be the same this year. Hopefully someone worthy of continuing that will be willing to do so. Pat was a long time friend and we have encountered many characters of the industry along the way. He was one of the good guys and will be missed
