Devoted husband, loving father, caring Grampa and Great-Grampa, Patrick Joseph Ryan departed this life October 1, 2012, in peace. Born in Galveston, Texas on March 17th, 1929, he graduated from Kirwin High School, class of 1946. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until 1953. Pat graduated from The University of Houston in 1957. He began his career at Keystone Valve Corporation and later worked at M and J Valve. He retired in 1991 as Vice President of KTM Industries.
Pat met his wife Bonnie in Galveston and they married in 1956. They resided in Houston for the next 36 years before retiring and returning to Galveston County among their many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, son Patrick Michael, and brother William G. Ryan. He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston. Pat was passionate about all sports but especially Houston Cougar football. He also enjoyed participating in various activities including fishing, gardening, and traveling worldwide with his wife and friends. Of all the places he was fortunate to see, his favorite place was the sandy beaches of Galveston, Texas.
Pat is survived by his daughter Catherine Chance and husband Mark, their children Duncan and wife Lorie, Jessica and Joey and great-granddaughter Evelyn Chance, daughter Carol Kirchhoff and husband Chuck and their son Clint, daughter Elaine Prichard and husband Curt and their children Katie and Amanda and her husband Stuart Bosanko. He is also survived by Janet Schwartz and her children Chrissie Champe, Jennifer Kerner and her husband Donald and Billy Champe, sister Kathleen Guyton, brother-in-law Forrest Brown and many nieces and nephews and loving friend Katye Parsley.
Pat’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 3rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October 4th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Dhatri Kodali and her staff.
