Phillip “Brother” Molis, Jr. was called home to our Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of 23. Brother was born on April 25, 1993 in Galveston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Julio Molis, Sr.; uncle, Anthony Molis; cousin, Val Molis; his mentor and best friend, Christopher Sanderson; his grandmother, Barbara Martine; and uncle, Patrick Martine.

From a young age Brother had dreams of becoming a Public Servant. From 2009 to 2012 he was dedicated to the Galveston Explorers.  He graduated from Ball High School in 2012 and proceeded to college, joining the police academy in 2014.

Brother volunteered his service to many organizations: The Boys and Girls Club, Relay for Life, Galveston Elks Lodge #126, Special People Mardi Gras Ball and Galveston Lassie League.  He also took the initiative during special events by helping the Galveston Police Department.

Brother’s first job was at Moody Gardens at Palm Beach. Then when he became of age, he joined the family business as a Tow Operator. He had his own truck with his name on it and made sure he always had the best “lightbar” so he could be seen.  He went on to join the Security Department at the San Luis Hotel.  He was the most dedicated person to his job.  He loved his co-workers and the Staff at the Hotel.  He was considered family to so many people.

Brother carried a smile on his face everywhere he went.

Uncle Brother was very close to his niece, Demii, and nephew, Baby E. He was a very proud Godfather to Dash King. He grew up with his little cousins who all respected him as their “Big Brother.”

Brother had many special friends that he loved like family: Mustafa, Damien, Pike, Patton, Santos, Healy, Lil Bobby, Barbara & Big Bobby Sanderson, Aunt Mary & Uncle Jimmy, Todd Fertitta, Blake Gonzales and Lori, Keith, Katie Fickessen, and Kevin and Kristie Rekoff. We cannot leave out his special furry friend, Abba.

Brother was a phenomenal brother to Destiny Rojas (Eric) and Deven Molis (Lamis) who all shared an unbreakable bond together.

Brother is survived by his father, Felipe Molis, Sr. and mother, Michelle Martine; the aunt and uncle who shared raising him, Uncle Manuel and Aunt Julie; his siblings: Hayden, Kandis, Macy, Mason & Melissa; grandmother, Amalia Kozak; his special cousins: Captain Michael Molis and wife Shauna, Kristin, Cosmo (Cristan), Darin (Joanne), Louis (Thuy), Jessica (Josh) & Willie (Victoria; Big Brother’s special cousins: Darin III, Alanna, Julianna, Sal, Baby Lou, Bentleigh, Baby Coco, Manuel, Tristin, Julian & Luke; special aunts & uncle: Paul & Elena Alvarado, Cindy, and Rose; Augustino and Cynthia Molis and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brother’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 9:00 pm, Sunday, April 23, 2017, at The Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, 5600 Seawall Blvd., in Galveston. A ceremony to make Brother a Deputy Constable will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Monday, April 24, 2017, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica 21st & Church Street in Galveston, with Father Richard Goodin, OFM, as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Following the graveside services, a reception will be held honoring Brother’s life at The Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort, 5600 Seawall Blvd., in Galveston.

Pallbearers are Sammy Mustafa, John Pike, Damien Souza, Cosmo Gazelas, William Molis, Darin Radzieski, Blake Patton, Bobby Sanderson, Jr., Jose Santos and Adrian Healy.

Honorary pallbearers are Eric Rojas, Brandon Kiamar, Rudy Palfrey, Uncle Jimmy Gillane, and Jimmy Fullen.

The family would like to give a special Thanks to Dr. Meleski, his staff and the entire SICU team.

I remember having you in quite a few classes throughout my time at Ball High. While I was mostly known as the quiet guy in class, I still remember quite a few conversations we had. One that stands out the most was getting ready to graduate and being unsure of what career path I was going to take and you suggesting law enforcement. Funny, almost 6 years later I find myself working at a correctional institution and working towards a career as a police officer. My sincere condolences to the family of Phillip and all others affected by his early departure.

My car broke down on me on the causeway one late evening. Even though Molis and I didn't speak much at work, he checked my car and waited with me over that water until my family came to pick me up and towed my car to our family mechanic. May God rest this good soul.

My deepest condolences to everyone in his family and circle of friends. Brother was an outstanding young man and I have the upmost respect for him. My fondest memories of Brother was when he was 5 or 6 years old and he would ride with Manuel in the tow truck. He loved flipping on the lights for his Uncle Manuel. His smile was filled with happiness. He had the biggest smile.
