Ramiro (Rams) M. Reyna, 82, of Galveston, Texas, passed away Tuesday November 1, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 12, 1933 to Andres and Irene Reyna. He was the second of seven children, born and raised in Galveston, where he graduated from Ball High School in 1955. After graduation, he began working as a Longshoreman for ILA Local 1576, where he remained until he retired in 1987. He met and married the love of his life, Maria del Refugio (Cuca), in December of 1965. In 1966, they welcomed their first of four children. After retirement he spent most of his time gardening, attending St. Patrick’s Church, playing dominos, frequenting Shipley’s with his friends and doting over his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cuca; and his parents, Andres and Irene. He is survived by daughters (and spouses), Soila Reyna Gomez (Luis), and Angelica Reyna Quintanilla (David); sons (and spouses), Ramiro Reyna, Jr. (Briony), and Marco Antonio Reyna (Cristina); and grandchildren: Amanda, Ariel (Ryan), David II, Victoria, Daniel, Sebastian, Ethan, Sophia, and Liam.
Ramiro’s family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 6, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 2:30 pm.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 7, at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Quintanilla, Sr., Luis Gomez, Ramiro Reyna, Jr., Marco Antonio Reyna, Sebastian Reyna, Ethan Reyna, David Quintanilla, II, Daniel Gomez, and Ryan Hentschel. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Reyna, Alex Reyna, Andres Reyna and Juan Reyna.
