Richard K. Lindsey, talented artist, philosopher, poet, and humanitarian, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016. He is survived by his parents, Steven and Pam Rice, of Galveston; sisters, Rosanne Williams of Starkville, MS; Heather Dean, of Galveston; and Allison Hall, of South Carolina; brother, Brad Rice and wife, Jenn, of Dallas; uncle, Mike Kemp and wife, Harriet, of Corinth, MS; three nieces and a nephew. Rich left behind a host of beloved relatives and friends around the world.
Born in Kennett, MO, on September 25, 1967, Rich attended Leysin American School in Switzerland and Northeast Mississippi Community College. An avid adventurer, Rich enjoyed writing, philosophy, photography, people, and all animals, especially his beloved Anna and Hobo. He was very involved with other writers as administrator of Short Story Writers and Poets Proving Ground online. Rich’s philosophy can be summed up by his favorite author, Jack Kerouac: “Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion.”
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Universalist Unitarian Fellowship.
