To my dear Aunt Sylvia, Ray and Ronnie my deepest condolences for your loss. I remember your boys when they were very young. Always full of energy, loved to play and always together. Ricky as I knew him had such a unique personality and a bright little boy. I remember my Mom would babysit them once in awhile and they loved to play. The next time was during Hurricane Carla when we bunkered down at your house on 41st. The last time I saw him was at the Hilton Hotel back in the 80's I think at the pool. Then from there it was either at weddings and at my parents funeral. They grew into fine young men. They leave us to soon, but lots of great memories. Again, my sincere sympathy to you and your families.... Jim Valdez

Ricky as I knew him became a friend in the second grade at Island Elementary as I remember it some bigger kid was getting red neck with me and Ricky stepped in and shut him down, from then on Rick and I were best friends through the 7th grade when I moved out of town. We stayed in touch and when I would come back to visit I would always hang out with him. Then after graduation I moved back to the Island and reconnected with Rick . We worked for Mr. Rekoff on various jobs for a while then with Ray. Rick was always a happy good natured positive person to be around. As we grew older the changes in life I didn't see Rick as often as in the past however the memories I have with the time I spent growing up with him will forever be a treasure I will always look back on.

Dear Family and Friends of the Rekoff Family, I wanted to share a brief story to celebrate the life of Rick. Most mornings I would jog, I would see Rick at some point. He lived 3 houses down from my normal morning path. He was usually in his red truck, would slow down honk, wave and yell some sort of kind or encouraging word to me as I plodded along. I looked forward to my morning "run-ins" (pun intended) with Rick. He loved his church, was an ambassador for Galveston Urban Ministries and cared for many. He will be missed, but grateful he is Worshipping the Creator! Praying for your whole family today!
