Rita Ione Hendricks, 84, of Galveston passed away March 4, 2014 at home. She was born August 26, 1929 in Grand Isle, Louisiana where she was raised. This environment of close family and community allowed her to develop a desire to provide for others. She had a life-long love of feeding others; this was seen in her career in the food service industry. Even after retiring she organized, cooked, and served food for family, church and friends. Rita was a truly caring and giving person, who always wanted to help others and believed that meals shared brought people together. Rita also had a strong faith in the Lord and enjoyed learning and participating at Abundant Life Christian Center including being born again and graduating from the School of Ministry in 1993. We wish to also offer a special thank you to all of her prayer partners; especially Linda Carter, Greg Willis, Beckie Wright, and Josie Martinez.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Hotard and Ida Rigaud; sister, Ella Guidry; brothers, Edward and Melvin Rigaud; husband, Robert T. Hendricks, Jr.; and son, Robert T. Hendricks III.
Rita is survived by her brother, Aubin and wife Marjorie Rigaud; sister, Mary Grunden; her children: Sharon Pehnke, Anna and husband Terry Apple, Stephen Raia, Robert Raia, Michael and wife Earlene Hendricks, Roxanne and husband Karl Craig, and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
