Bobby Vodovar, born and raised in Galveston, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the age of 70. He worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 527, where he was a member for 42 years. One of Bobby’s favorite activities and best attributes was the pure enjoyment he got out of cooking and making sure to always have plenty of food for everyone. He also had an absolute love for animals and always wished to be able to rescue them all and give them a good home. Bobby’s two special friends, Shyne, who would protect him no matter what, and Bowser, who stuck to him like glue, are very sad and missing him already. Bobby will forever be missed, and to all who loved him, dwell not on the sadness and grief, but on all the good memories that were shared with him.
Bobby was preceded in death by the grandparents who raised him, Bob and Teresa Marie Vodovar; his grandson, Cordell Earl Wofford; and mother-in-law, Ann Slatter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Marilyn Vodovar; daughters, Melissa Vodovar Wofford, K’Ellen Dezern, Taya Paysse, and Jenny Wright; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
So many thank yous go out to Hospice Care Team and Bobby’s special nurse, Pam, who took great care of him and was very supportive to his beloved wife and devoted daughter, who were always there for him through this difficult time.
Per Bobby’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service held. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bobby’s memory to Hospice Care Team, Inc., 1708 Amburn, Suite C, Texas City, TX 77591-2436, or the Galveston Island Humane Society, 6814 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77554.
Memories Build a Special Bridge
Our memories build a special bridge when loved ones have to part
To help us feel we are with them still and soothe a grieving heart.
Our memories span the years we shared, preserving ties that bind
They build a special bridge of love and bring us peace of mind.
