Robert (Bob) Clinton York went home to Jesus on June 12, 2021 at age 94 in Richmond, Texas. Bob was born to Ruel and Geneva York on October 5, 1926, in Damariscotta Mills, ME, where he grew up and spent the first 18 years of his life. Bob was the 6th of 7 children and was the only surviving sibling. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, ME in 1946. Bob then joined the Air Force and was stationed in Roswell NM where he met and married Juanita in August 1947.
Bob was on active duty for 14 years, moving several times in those years, including serving in the Korean War in Japan. After leaving active duty, he served in the Air National Guard until 1966. After retiring from the National Guard, Bob began working at American National Insurance in Galveston, retiring in 1989. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement and began doing woodworking in his garage in Galveston.
Bob was a long-time member of Moody Methodist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years and the mother of his children, Juanita Ruth; his son Richard Allen; his daughter-in-law, Christena; and his wife, Gayla.
Bob is survived by his children: Diana Louise Jordan, Robert Louis York, Michael Leroy York, and Timothy Wayne York; his grandchildren: Amy and Bobby (Diana), David, Kimberly, Jenna, Krista, and Julianna (Robert), Brianna, Shannon, Shaun, Chad, and Jenny (Michael) and Timothy, Benjamin, and Leslie (Timothy). He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Malloy & Son Funeral Home on Broadway, Tuesday, June 22, at 1 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:30. Burial will follow the service at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
