Robert “Bob” Dean Kerr passed away on August 27, 2014, after a lengthy illness and courageous battle. Bob was born on June 23, 1941, in Sewickley, PA, and lived in Texas for the last 33 years. Though he will be sorely missed, Bob will be remembered for his love of his friends and family, his rescue dog Sadie, sports, and politics, including his service as city councilman in Aliquippa, PA. Bob served honorably in the U.S. Army in Korea following the Korean War. Bob’s work service included employment with Dravo Shipyard, Todd Shipyard, Standard Steel Supply, Industrial Materials, and Trey Industries. Many will remember Bob from his years of volunteer service at the Galveston Boat Club.
Survived by son Matthew Kerr, daughter-in-law Chantelle Kerr, and granddaughter Mackenzie Kerr, brother and sister-in-law Don and Janice Kerr, and sister Sylvia McPherson, Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, husband, son, uncle, employee, and friend to many. Adopting and raising his son Matt, as well as the addition of his granddaughter, Mackenzie, were the highlights of Bob’s life. Bob’s close friends, Donnie and Patty Rouse, always enjoyed including Bob in family events.
Family, friends, customers, and co-workers are invited to a celebration of Bob’s life on Saturday, September 6, 2014, beginning at 5 p.m., at the Galveston Boat Club, 7002 Avenue O. Special thanks to Bob’s cardiologist and friend, Dr. Clement DeFelice and the ICU Staff at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association in Bob’s name are appreciated. Arrangements by Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, TX.
