Robert Mitchell Clarac, Sr., 74, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at his home in Bayou Vista, TX. He was born January 10, 1940, in Houston, Texas to Marie and Edward H.L. Clarac, Sr. Robert worked as a warehouse foreman for H L & P for 23 years until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and cars and had a passion for high school football. A loving father and grandfather, he also enjoyed dropping by to visit friends and family. Robert was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Galveston.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Clarac; sons, Robert Clarac, Jr. and wife, Lori; and Richard Clarac and wife, Ashley; sister, Thelma Giusti and husband, Louis; brother, Edward H.L. Clarac, Jr.; grandchildren: Megan Ratliff and husband, Andrew; Lindsey Clarac; Bailey Nelson; Blaine Nelson; Mattilyn Filer; Raegan Clarac; and Mason Clarac; great grandchildren: Avri Miles and Preslee Ratliff; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Clarac, Stuart Stout, Ivan Bright, Jr., Andrew Ratliff, Bryan Taylor, Jordan Dotson, Kyler Gonzales, and Malcolm Dotson, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Clarac, Gene Austin, Robert Garcia, Noel McCurley, Leo Chide, Louis Giusti, Oscar Lester, Blaine Nelson, and Edward H. L. Clarac, Jr.
Robert’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, May 8th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Robert’s family wishes to extend special thanks to special friend, Kim Castro, as well as Robert’s nurse, Lisa O’Brien, his caregiver, Letria, and the wonderful staff of Resolutions Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
