Rosalind Englert, 91, of Galveston died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at UTMB in Galveston. She was born on May 31, 1922 in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Paul Oakley and Elsie Kerr.
During World War II, she served in the Navy as a WAVE. Aided by the GI Bill, she worked and attended college, eventually earning a BA, MA and PH.D. in English from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She taught English at Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Rosalind was preceded in death by her husband of sixteen years, Thomas J. Englert.
Rosalind survived her two sisters, Betty Callender and Pauline Orth-Carter. She is survived by her son, John Belton, and nephews and nieces Sharon Herrington, Roylene Pelphrey, Cynthia Schelinski, P.J. Orth, Jeffrey Orth, and Pete Orth. She is the beloved mother-in-law of Ellen Belton, grandmother of Elizabeth Supan and Jane Dickerson, and great-grandmother of Lucas Supan, Henry Dickerson, and Leleanna Supan.
A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank her caregiver and friend, Rocio Agamez, who loved and cared for Rosalind until the end.
