Sally Trueheart McCullough Futch, devoted wife, aunt and benefactor, went to be with her Lord and Savior July 2, 2013. She was born February 9, 1923, in Galveston, the daughter of John W. and Marjorie McCullough of Galveston. She is the granddaughter of William Wallace and Euphemia McCullough of Brownwood, and Albert Sidney and Sally Trueheart Williams of Galveston. Sally was a graduate of Hockaday School in Dallas, attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Texas. She married the love of her life, Edward D. Futch III, MD in July, 1944.
Sally was an active member of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, served for many years on The Galveston Orphans Home Lady Board of Managers, was a member of the Sidney Sherman Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and was a member of the Colonial Dames. She also was an active and sustaining member of the Junior League of Galveston and served on the Medical Auxiliary at John Sealy Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death her parents, husband and sister. She is survived by her brother, John W. McCullough, Jr., and wife, Theodora, of Kerrville, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and one great grandnephew. Her extended family, who cared for her so lovingly, includes Robert Anderson, Carrie Ward, Velma Collins, Linda George and Shirley Collins.
A memorial service will be held on July 6, 2013 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Galveston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Galveston, the Rosenberg Library in Galveston, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, or Ducks Unlimited.
