Shirley Marie Belluomini Macicek, 74, of Galveston, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
Shirley’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Thursday, March 25th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 26th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1010 35th Street in Galveston, with Father E. J. Stein as Celebrant.
Shirley was born June 27, 1935, in Galveston, Texas and was a longtime resident of the island. She owned and operated Konsumer’s Food Market for over 50 years. It was a true neighborhood grocery store, and Shirley’s loyal customers became friends, often staying to chat after they shopped. Shirley would open the store even if it was past business hours to let someone in if they needed something. In recent years, Shirley spent time enjoying her retirement with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Shirley was of the Catholic faith.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James Patrick Macicek, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Caren Rice and husband, Russell; sons, James P. Macicek Jr., Steven Macicek and wife, Tracey, and Kevin Macicek and wife, Lidieth; sister, Lena DelPapa; grandchildren: Alexandra Rice, Evan Rice, Cade Macicek, Sophie Macicek, Grace Macicek, Camille Macicek, Mollie Macicek, Wyatt Macicek, Max Macicek, and Ava Macicek; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Macicek’s nephews.
