I am so very sorry to hear of Steve's passing 'WAY too early. A professional tour guide on Galveston Island for over 25 years, I absolutely loved Steve's style as a docent!! He literally made me laugh on every tour I took with him! His unique use of language, his smile, his charming gentlemanly manner clothed most dapperly in bright sports coats endeared me to him. I have spoken of him much on my tours and in my classes, remembering his insistence (as that of Mrs. Liz) that Ashton Villa has an otherworldly presence. He carried the proof in his pocket -- a photo taken by one of his tour guests at night, showing a Victorian lady peering out of the east upstairs full-length windows. Perhaps his spirit will reside at Ashton Villa with Miss Betty . . . I will never forget him.
