Terrence “Terry” Daulong passed from this life on Friday, June 10, 2016. Born in Galveston, one of five boys, Terry graduated from Kirwin High School. After serving in the Army during World War II, Terry worked for the gas company before retiring from Union Carbide, where he worked as a chemical operator. A kind, considerate, caring man, Terry was nominated by an elderly neighbor and was chosen as the Galveston Daily News “Person of the Year” for 2004.
Terry had a lifelong love of baseball and football and was a wealth of knowledge for anyone with questions concerning these sports. Among his hobbies, he was an avid bowler into his late 70’s. Even more remarkable, he was an accomplished, self-taught organist and could be found at his organ anytime during the day. Terry was certainly a “true gentleman” and he lived a full life and one of devoted service to others.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Elmira and Albert Daulong; four brothers: Richard (Bubba), Danny, Eugene (Johnny) and Ernie; his first wife, Audrey; and his second wife, Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and her children: Stephanie Contella, Norman Burch, Jr., Nancy Burch, and Donna Giusti and husband, Joe. Also mourning his loss are sister-in-law, Jo Daulong; nephew, Mark Daulong and wife, Donna; the staff at the Meridian Care Facility and last, but hardly least, Terry’s four-legged “daughter,” Peaches.
We especially wish to thank Emma Ordonez and Ruby Fee for their kind and loving care for Terry while he remained at home.
