Obituary

Thomas Maliszewski, 65, of Bayou Vista, TX passed away Saturday, April 12th, 2014.  Tom originally from Lake Orion, Michigan moved to Texas after receiving a job offer at UTMB in Galveston in 1997 and worked there until his retirement. 

Tom grew up in Hazel Park, Michigan and went to Hazel Park High School. After school he joined the Navy and served our country in active duty in the Vietnam War where he received three medals for his military service and was honorably discharged.  Baseball was his favorite sport and he played it until he physically could not play anymore. He played in many tournaments around Michigan and every year for Children’s Hospital in Galveston. He also loved fishing, carpentry, cooking and chatting with his friends at the Elks Lodge and VFW.  He volunteered to cook at special events and benefits at the Elks Lodge where he was a member for many years. He also remained a member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Lake Orion, Michigan where he worked for a time and had and still has many close friends. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley, his brothers Jerry and Rick, his brother in law Jim Lachowicz, his sister in laws, Ethel and Renee Maliszewski, Barb Lachowicz and Nancy Jungnitsch and many nieces and nephews.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Tom's family. He was a fun loving guy. We always enjoyed visiting with Tom and Shirley at the Elks Lodge.
