Obituary

Ursulee Theresa Rahe passed away to be with the Lord on December 20, 2012 at 92 years of age. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ursulee Theresa Rahe and her sister, Georgia Anne Flake. She is survived by a sister, Mary Helen Johnson of Gainesville, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Miss Rahe was born on Galveston island, graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, and received a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Texas at Austin. She spent seventeen years serving the Lord as a Dominican nun in the Catholic Church, under the chosen name of Sister Mary Christopher. After leaving the convent to aid her elderly mother, she became a music teacher in the Galveston ISD schools, where she spent over twenty five years teaching music to the children of Galveston, before retiring in 1989. She was also a well known piano player and organist, having given private lessons to many on the island for decades.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bayou Pines Care Center in La Marque for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, Galveston, Texas, followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Galveston, starting at 11:00 a.m.

A beautiful life, with many loving memories left to us nephews and nieces, and in turn to our children. Let perpetual light shine upon her.

I lived down the street from Ursalee and got to know her while walking my dog. I helped her feed her cats when she had hand surgery and visited often after that. Unfortunately I lost track of her after Hurricane Ike. She was a gentle soul and loved her music and her cats. I'm sorry to hear of her passing since I was unable to connect with her again, but I know she must be at peace now.
