Virginia was born February 1, 1922, in Galveston, Texas. She worked in her father’s grocery store and reminisced fondly about the war years. Virginia married the love her life, Edward, and remained faithful to him even after his death. She enjoyed the company of her daughter and played an instrumental role in raising her grandchildren. Virginia shared a deep love for her grandson, and in many ways they had the same disposition and interests.
Virginia had an appreciation for good food and good music. She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. While she got immense enjoyment out of living her last 10 years on the mainland, she was saddened by the death of her daughter 3 years ago.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Wood; daughter, Cynthia Wood; and brother-in-law, Thomas Wood.
She is survived by her grandson, Dale Schoppe; granddaughter, Paula Schoppe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia’s family would like to thank Harborview Care Center and the many other health professionals who assisted her these past few years.
