Wayne Morgan Jones, Sr. was born May 28, 1945 in Moultry, Georgia, to Carter and Tennyson Jones as the third of six children. He has 5 siblings: Emory Jones (deceased), Franklin Jones, Gary Jones, Deloris Asbell, and Catherine Sipprell.
Wayne married Connie Rae Bailey, and together they had three children: Wayne M. Jones, Jr., Cindy Spinks, and Michael Jones. Wayne now has three grandchildren: Lisa King, Robert Burke, Jr., and Kevin Edwards; and five great grandchildren: Savanna Edwards, Nathaniel Edwards, Somer Burke, Charley Burke, and Bethany Burke.
Wayne served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged in 1966.
Wayne was a man of God, believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. He went to the Baptist Church and was always willing to tell people about Jesus.
He was always quick with a joke and willing to help others. He was opinionated but also willing to give advice, though not always well-received. He was loved by all those who were around him.
We can’t forget his little dogs, Prissy and Missy Lou. He always kept them close after Connie passed away. They were a great comfort to him.
Wayne enjoyed taking children fishing, whether it be his own, or his nieces and nephews, or even the children from his church. When you mention him, you always hear their story of when he took them fishing.
He is loved and missed, but we know that one day we will all be standing in glory talking about when we went fishing with my Daddy.
