William “Bill” Thomas Harris III was born on November 24, 1956 to Ruth and William Harris, Jr. in Euclid, Ohio.
Bill Harris took his last breath in the presence of his wife and two children on Tuesday, February 5, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Connie , daughter Katrina, 17 and son William (Liam) 12, sisters Leslie Harris, Laurie and husband John DiBattista and Lisa Harris and husband Graham Barnard, nieces Molly and Evie, and nephew J.J. He also left behind sister-in-law, Irene and husband Ed Torres, brother-in-law, Ferdy and wife Wendy Caviles and mother-in-law, Ofie.
Bill was a dedicated husband and a loving father, and a protector of his family. He was a loyal friend who danced to the beat of his own drum. Bill loved his adopted home, Galveston, Texas and was an islander by choice. He loved walks on the beach, fishing, carpentry, playing tennis with his son, sitting in his rocking chair on the porch just “shooting the breeze” with his friends, weekly poker games with his buddies, and most of all, he loved ocean kayaking.
He was a very intelligent man whose opinions were well respected by his peers. He was an avid reader and loved military history. He was adventurous and learned how to fly a plane during his college years.
Bill was surrounded by extended family and had many friends. He will be sorely missed and his death had left a void to those whose lives he touched.
